DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direct supervision of the Legal Counsel,
the temporary Legal Officer will perform the following duties in the area of international and administrative law:
- Prepare, review and draft internal legislation, including Standing Instructions;
- Assist in the resolution of legal questions relating to the interpretation and application of the Staff and Financial Regulations and Rules as well as Standing Instructions;
- Provide advice on the legal acceptance of proposed actions in relation to personnel matters and procurement.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Master's degree in Law is essential. A postgraduate degree would be an advantage.

Experience
At least five years of progressively responsible experience providing legal advice and services related to international and administrative law, in particular in the area of labour law and procurement.

Other requirements
Ability to present sound and well-reasoned legal arguments, including submissions to appeals bodies. Excellent analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and ability to work with minimum assistance as well as to work in a multicultural environment.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of French and English is required.

(Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.)
The contract shall be part-time (50%) and shall be limited to 11 months.
