DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Project Coordinator (Global Hydrometry Support Facility (WMO HydroHub)), the incumbent is responsible for supporting the operations of the WMO HydroHub. This facility supports implementation of hydrometric observing systems and catalyses uptake of innovative methods and technology into the former. The incumbent will perform the following duties:
(a) Contribute to the World Hydrological Cycle Observing System (WHYCOS) programme and its Hydrological Cycle Observing System (HYCOS) components through supporting the development of new project proposals and providing backstopping to ongoing HYCOS projects;
(b) Provide technical support of the various components of the WMO HydroHub;
(c) Support the development and operate the WMO HydroHub Community of Practice;
(d) Administer and keep the WMO HydroHub website updated;
(e) Support and catalyze the implementation of the Hydrological Services Information Platform in close cooperation with the WMO country profile database;
(f) Assist the preparation of the WMO HydroHub Advisory Council and Innovation Committee meetings including background documents;
(g) Assist in the preparation of WMO HydroHub outreach documents and reports;
(h) Provide administrative support to the WMO HydroHub Project Coordinator and Innovation Officer;
(i) Assist the organization of WMO HydroHub meetings and workshops, including travel preparation, scheduling of videoconferences, meeting logistics and procurement;
(j) Carry out other relevant duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in administration, management, environmental sciences, hydrology, meteorology, geography or a closely related field.

Experience
At least three years of combined national and international progressively responsible experience in data analysis and management, hydrometry, outreach and communication, administration or project management. Knowledge of water-related international programmes with experience in organizing meetings, drafting and reviewing of technical reports and project documents.

Other requirements
Sense of responsibility, flexibility, maturity of judgement, initiative, originality of ideas and ability to work independently and in a team. Proven ability to write reports and documents. Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal and analytical skills. Some knowledge of the activities of WMO or other United Nations agencies. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Ability to work in a multicultural environment and to foster team spirit.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English. Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization would be an advantage.

(Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.)
The position is limited to the duration of the project, which is 31 December 2019, and is funded from extrabudgetary resources. Possibility of renewal subject to the availability of funds and pending satisfactory performance after an initial probationary period of six months, which can be extended if required
SALARY AND ALLOWANCES

Annual net base salary on initial appointment is: US$ 50377

Annual post adjustment on initial salary is: US$ 40805 (in addition to the net base salary)
