DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the overall supervision of the Director, Language, Conference and Publishing (LCP) Services Department and the Chief of the Communications and Public Affairs Office, the incumbent will be under direct responsibility of LCP Production Editor and CPA Media Officer, in his/her daily tasks, performing the following duties:
1. Assist the WMO Communication and Public Affairs Department to widen the outreach of WMO in Spanish language;
2. Help strengthen WMO's Spanish language presence, especially on Twitter by translating English tweets;
3. Help translate web content from English into Spanish, as appropriate;
4. Assist in terminology work and other language-related projects;
5. Carry out other relevant duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Applicants must at the time of application be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) in journalism or languages, translation or a field closely related to the work of WMO.

Experience
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the internship programme. However, knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.) will be an added advantage.

Other requirements
Sense of responsibility, detail-oriented, initiative, ability to work in a team. Be computer literate in standard software applications. Excellent written and oral communication. Some knowledge of the activities of WMO or other United Nations agencies.

Languages
Spanish as a principal language essential. Excellent knowledge of English and French and of other WMO official languages.

(Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.)
Possibility of renewal subject to the availability of funds and pending satisfactory performance after an initial probationary period of one year which can be extended up to a maximum of two years.
