DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision and guidance of the Director of the Education and Training Office (D/ETR), the incumbent will perform the following duties:

(a) Support the continuous review of education and training policy and related implementation strategy;

(b) Participate in the assessment of education and training resource materials through liaising with the Secretariat Technical Departments, external reviewers and relevant stakeholders;

(c) Render input to coordination and consolidated delivery of education and training activities in the Secretariat;

(d) Contribute to coordination of the WMO Global Campus and WMO volunteers initiatives;

(e) Promote the networking on education and training activities, between institutions, among experts and among trainees;

(f) Identify and promote opportunities for education and training interventions in extra-budgetary projects, and provision of needed assistance in coordination of Secretariat implementation;

(g) Support evaluation, assessment and reporting on education and training awards and activities;

(h) Coordinate exchange of experts between National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs) through volunteers and other initiatives;

(i) Proactively collaborate in the coordination of publication and outreach related activities;

(j) Carry out other relevant duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Master's degree or equivalent in meteorology, hydrology or a closely related field.

Experience
A minimum of five years of combined national and international progressively responsible experience in education and training in the scientific or environmental applications areas. Demonstrated experience in the management of projects and budgets, and in writing reports, documents and correspondence.

Other requirements
Maturity of judgement, initiative, tact and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people of different national and cultural backgrounds. Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Ability to work in a multicultural environment and to foster diversity and team spirit.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization would be an advantage.

(Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.)
Possibility of renewal subject to the availability of funds and pending satisfactory performance after an initial probationary period of one year which can be extended up to a maximum of two years.
SALARY AND ALLOWANCES

Annual net base salary on initial appointment is: US$ 64121

Annual post adjustment on initial salary is: US$ 45526 (in addition to the net base salary)
