DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Science Officer in Climate and Energy, and the Head of Applied Climate Services Division (ACS), the intern would undertake the following duties:

 Assist with partners consultations and information gathering on the water-energy-food nexus for two regional projects in South America (Adaptation Fund) and Southern Africa (H2020);

 Facilitate information sharing and manage a clearing house;

 Assist the division scientific officers in managing the deliveries of the partners and consultants;

 Assist the Head of ACS in supporting various aspects of current projects implementation such as the CREWS projects in West Africa and Papua New Guinea, the Adaptation Fund project in East Africa, and the IKI project in South East Asia;

 Assist in maintaining the various ACS webpages;

 Perform additional tasks commensurate with the role of an intern in WMO as assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Bachelor or equivalent university degree from a recognized university or technical institute in meteorology, climatology, physics or engineering. Ideally being enrolled in the last year in a similar Master's Programme of a recognized University. Any knowledge of hydrological and biological systems especially agriculture and energy would be useful.

Other requirements
Ability to effectively and efficiently work with Microsoft Office applications and with internet editing applications. Good communication skills. Ability to edit and write technical documents. Ability to work efficiently in a multicultural environment.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (spoken and written). Knowledge of Spanish would be an advantage.
