DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the guidance and co -supervision of the Head, MERP Unit and the CSG Coordinator, the intern will perform the following duties:

- Assist in the data collection, consolidation and analysis of monitoring, evaluation and risk management data at both the strategic and operational levels;
- Assist with the development and maintenance of monitoring dashboards, story maps, and other innovative data visualization tools;
- Assist in the development of various reports (e.g. rolling reviews of performance, Key Performance Indicators, biennial performance report, governance body reports, etc.);
- Assist in data quality assurance (Community Platform and other sources and methodologies as defined in the WMO Performance Monitoring Plan);
- Assist in the administration and data analysis of surveys;
- Assist in the development of guidance notes, toolkits and communication materials (flyers, fact sheets, profiles, collection of good practice) on monitoring, evaluation, risk management and reporting;
- Assist in the organization of workshops and the development of training materials;
- Conduct research on UN and other best practice on topics within the mandate of the MERP Unit;
- Assist the coordinator, especially focusing on WMO flagship initiatives (SOFF, Water Initiative) and WMO flagship products;
- Assist in the preparation and organization of Executive Council and Congress;
- Assist in other related matters, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Holding or in the course of obtaining a master's degree in social sciences, international relations/development studies, business administration, communications, environmental studies and related sciences

Experience
Ability to work in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint (required); Competence in data visualization tools would be an asset (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Canva, Powtoon)


Other requirements
Interest or background in planning, monitoring and evaluation; Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English; Strong research and writing skills; Strong organizational skills; Good interpersonal skills
