DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Deputy Secretary, IPCC, the intern will perform the following duties:

 Undertake research and collect data and information needed to draft background papers and / or meeting documents as necessary.
 Assist in developing content for the meeting documents, reports and presentations.
 Provides and coordinates input to background papers and / or meeting documents.
 Supports the organization of IPCC sessions (Plenary and bureau) including preparation of necessary meeting documents and reports.
 Support the preparation of documentation and participate in the monthly IPCC Executive Committee meetings and Operations Action Team (OAT) meetings and provide input to and contribute to the finalization of the report of the meeting.
 Prepare draft presentations of documents prepared by the secretariat.
 Takes notes of the meetings and summarizes key points.
 Undertake other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
A first level university degree in a field relevant to the environment, (environmental studies, environmental economics, environmental law, environmental assessments). Advanced university degree or equivalent of master's degree is preferable.

Experience
Working experience with international organizations is preferable.

Other requirements
 Proficiency in Windows, MS Office suite and skills in developing animated PowerPoint presentations, excel worksheets and databases.
 Demonstrated writing skills in English
 Experience working in teams. Working with multi-cultural teams would be an advantage.
 Good communication skills. Speaks and writes clearly and effectively in English.
 Teamwork: should be able to work in collaboration with colleagues; solicits guidance where appropriate from his/her superior.
 Creativity: not bound by current thinking or traditional approaches and seeks to consider new ideas and approaches to problem solving.
 Technological awareness: actively seeks to apply technology to appropriate tasks.


Languages
Fluency in English is essential. Working knowledge of another WMO official language is an asset.

(Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.)
