DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the general supervision of the Chief of Conference Services (C/CNF), the incumbent will perform the following duties:

(a) Operate all the purpose-built installed and remote simultaneous interpretation (SI), audiovisual (AV) and virtual videoconferencing platforms and equipment, test and train delegates on the use of these platforms;
(b) Prepare and implement audio and video plans for in-person, virtual and hybrid meetings and events by closely liaising with relevant Departments and/or external partners, and ensure availability and operability of equipment;
(c) Set up and assist in the operation of equipment for presentations which may be required at any time in the meeting rooms of the WMO Secretariat; plan, schedule, coordinate and monitor audio and video conferences held at the Secretariat in face-to-face, virtual or hybrid modes;
(d) Provide regular checks, routine maintenance and troubleshooting of all the SI, AV and videoconferencing equipment;
(e) Prepare the interpreters' booths; assist in the compilation and distribution of briefs, statements, presentations etc. for distribution to the interpreters and sending messages to delegates;
(f) Process recordings of meeting proceedings in audio and video format as required;
(g) Coordinate the equipment repairs with external logistics team in charge of conference technology systems; the provision of web-streaming and remote conferencing as per request;
(h) Recommend for modification, redesign and upgrade the existing audio and video equipment and conference systems including drafting the technical specifications of required equipment;
(i) Prepare and schedule graphics and messaging for digital signage throughout the WMO Secretariat;
(j) Prepare all conference rooms according to the requirements of the weekly programme of meetings;
(k) Update the information on the signage system;
(l) Assist the supervisor in the preparation of budget estimates and keep the inventory records up to date;
(m) Carry out other relevant duties, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Completed secondary school education or equivalent secretarial, commercial or technical studies with corresponding diploma.

Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in the operation of simultaneous interpretation and audiovisual equipment. Excellent technical knowledge of a variety of electronics and audiovisual equipment, including conference-related equipment, such as simultaneous interpretation equipment, audiovisual and digital signage equipment, videoconferencing software and hardware. Knowledge of multilingual web conferencing platforms used for virtual meetings.

Other requirements
Demonstrated ability to work with standard Microsoft Office 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and services (Teams and SharePoint). Ability to work under pressure, with a high degree of personal initiative and capacity to handle sustained high volume of work. Demonstrated ability to acquire new skills in the field of virtual meetings as well as interest in continuous learning to expand these skills. Punctuality, reliability, initiative and attention to detail, tact and discretion essential. Willingness to work flexible hours, including during weekends if necessary, as required and at short notice. Ability to work in a multicultural environment and to foster diversity and team spirit.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization would be an advantage.

(Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.)
Possibility of renewal subject to the availability of funds and pending satisfactory performance after an initial probationary period of one year which can be extended up to a maximum of two years.
SALARY
Annual net base salary on initial appointment and after deduction for staff assessment is: CHF 75234
