DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Senior Communications Officer, Strategic Communications Office, Cabinet Office of the Secretary-General, the incumbent is an integral part of the digital media team. Primarily tasked with optimizing and enhancing the delivery of content and information via the main external corporate communication site and substantively supporting content development and coordination of the main internal communication channel for WMO staff, the SharePoint based HUB. Enable the evolution and relevance of content and messaging on weather, climate and water high priority initiatives throughout the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) global network of National Meteorological and Hydrometeorological Services (NMHSs) and United Nations (UN) partners. The incumbent will perform the following duties:

(a) Work in cooperation as part of the CSG Strategic Communications digital content team with technical department focal points, external providers and partners to update and coordinate the corporate external site content and internal intranet HUB content reflecting the main initiatives and priorities of the organization and our relevant to our members;
(b) Enable the evolution and relevance of content and messaging on weather, climate and water high priority initiatives
(c) Ensure that the corporate external site and the intranet HUB remains user-friendly and dynamic with fresh content and liaise with external service providers;
(d) Under the guidance of the Senior Strategic Communications Officer ensure coordination and content of the Internal communications HUB site aligns in support of high-quality WMO staff information and WMO staff-management relations;
(e) Ensure that the external and internal WMO digital content remains relevant and updated in close cooperation with technical departments, regional Offices and political liaison offices in Brussels and New York;
(f) Create, develop and manage the highest level of digital content quality and accuracy;
(g) Ensure that the Communications Team, technical departments, regional offices and political liaison offices (New York and Brussels) are aware of new digital trends and make suggestions for integration of content on the external and internal channels;
(h) Train and support staff and department users, enabling them to publish and update digital content;
(i) Regularly review the external and internal user metrics and analytics to report back to the team and departments to guide decisions about content or structure;
(j) Carry out other relevant digital media communication duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field of Digital media communications and digital media content management.

Experience
At least 5 years of national and international progressively responsible experience in the field External and Internal communications content, digital communications, media, marketing, or another relevant field. Preferably in an international intergovernmental or national agency setting. Experience with digital analytics and other social media tools for efficient management of digital communications is required.

Other requirements
Demonstrated track record of results-based strategic planning and management of corporate external digital communication content and internal communication digital platforms in an environmental/science setting. Outstanding skills in content management and communications, and understanding of media, multimedia and social media required. Understanding of international development; international relations; climate change/environmental/scientific strongly preferred. Deep practical usage and understanding of MS SharePoint collaboration sites. Ability to work in a multicultural environment and to foster diversity and team spirit.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization would be an advantage.

(Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.)
Possibility of renewal subject to the availability of funds and pending satisfactory performance after an initial probationary period of one year which can be extended up to a maximum of two years.
SALARY AND ALLOWANCES

Annual net base salary on initial appointment is: US$ 64121

Annual post adjustment on initial salary is: US$ 48860 (in addition to the net base salary)
