DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the guidance of the Director for Water and Cryosphere in cooperation with WMO staff involved in supporting the water and climate coalition the intern will perform the following duties:

- synthesise existing information in communicable formats (print, web, social media, podcast....)
- help conceptualising and implementing a communication strategy for the water and climate coalition
- support updating and improving the web pages of the water and climate coalition
- Participate in outreach activities to motivate contributions from different sectors
- Support the presentation of both initiatives at various international meetings
- Support/implement social media formats
- support/implement video and audio content for the promotion of the water and climate coalition
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Holding or in the course of obtaining a master's degree in communication, marketing, social media, business administration, or related.

Experience
Ability to work in photoshop, with web and social media and other communication tools; Strong writing skills; Skills in video editing and production

Other requirements
Interest or background in water and climate as well as communication; Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English; Strong organizational skills.

Works collaboratively with colleagues in a multi-lingual, multi-cultural environment to achieve organizational goals; ability to act autonomously and using own initiative.

Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a commitment to sustainable development and the environment.

Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. Be a self-starter.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the WMO Secretariat in Geneva.
