DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Senior Strategic Communications Officer, Cabinet Office of the Secretary-General (CSG) with close interaction and cooperation with the Media Coordination Officer and other members of the WMO communications team. Optimizing and enhancing digital content for further dissemination to media channels/outlets. As part of the overall WMO communications objectives the incumbent will follow a process of continual improvement: understand global audience behavior; evaluate effectiveness of the current portfolio of platforms; test new approaches; enhance the user experience and journey; and support the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) global network of National Meteorological and Hydrometeorological Services (NMHSs).

The incumbent will perform the following duties:

Optimize digital content:

- Working as part of the strategic communications office digital media team in support of the strategic growth of global audiences through digital channels and diversification of high-quality content;
- Achieve digital communication goals for reach and engagement through digital channels and outlets;
- In cooperation with the digital media team, help implement digital media plans for major communication projects and campaigns;
- Ensure the proper and selective use of digital media for audience development and messaging;
- Evaluate effectiveness of WMO's global portfolio of digital media platforms;
- Systematically adapt the use of digital media to ensure better user experience and journey;
- Deploy digital media tools for strategic and efficient planning and management;
- Use media listening tools to drive insights and suggestions for digital platforms;
- Test and stay up to date on new digital platforms and tools and suggest ways WMO can use them for strategic promotion;

Strengthen application of digital communications:

- Advise Regional Offices and technical departments on standards and best practices for WMO digital communications and content development;
- Provide training and assets to teach skills, impart knowledge and inform on guidelines for effective digital communications;
- Build capacity of digital communications at all levels through knowledge sharing;
- Continually stay informed on latest social media technologies and practices to ensure effectiveness of WMO's digital communication network;
- Contribute to developing social media guidelines and standard operating procedures;

Contribute to digital creative process:

- Along with digital production and departmental technical teams, develop creative content across all WMO digital platforms to build awareness and engagement and achieve strategic priorities;

Measure digital media performance:

- Produce regular analytics report for digital media, specifically campaigns, using different tools;
- Provide analysis of data to draw insights and recommendations;

Carry out other relevant duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field of digital/strategic communications, digital media + content development, journalism, or closely related field.

Experience
At least 5 years of national and international progressively responsible experience in the field of digital media communications, digital content and marketing in an international, national or private sector context. Experience with digital analytics and other digital/social media tools for efficient management and evaluation of digital communications is required.

Other requirements
Demonstrated track record of results-based strategic planning and management of digital campaigns. Outstanding skills in digital strategic communications, multimedia and social media required. Understanding of international development; international relations; or Climate/Environmental/Scientific and/or other relevant issues strongly preferred. Ability to work in a multicultural environment and to foster diversity and team spirit.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization would be an advantage.

(Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.)
Possibility of renewal subject to the availability of funds and pending satisfactory performance after an initial probationary period of one year which can be extended up to a maximum of two years.
SALARY AND ALLOWANCES

Annual net base salary on initial appointment is: US$ 64121

Annual post adjustment on initial salary is: US$ 48860 (in addition to the net base salary)
