DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Senior Economic and Societal Impact Officer of the Cabinet Office of the Secretary-General (CSG), the incumbent will support the analysis of economic and societal benefits from national and multilateral investments in Hydrometeorological Services, climate adaptation and early-warning. The incumbent will perform the following duties:

(a) Review reports, research papers, presentations on magnitudes of economic damage from extreme weather and disasters and cost benefit analysis of positive investments in early warning systems, observational infrastructures and information to the public;

(b) Assist with implementation of major projects, in particular aiming at development of economic analysis and compilation of key dataset, including economic financial information and statistics on the economic and societal benefits;

(c) Assist with organization of meetings, seminars and similar consultations;

(d) Assist with visual representation of findings;

(e) Carry out other relevant duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Master's degree or equivalent in an environmental technical domain, preferably with specialization in economics and/or financial statistics.

Experience
Application of economic principles in technical or development programmes, such as climate, weather and water or related area is an advantage. Experience in analysing economic and societal impacts and benefits is highly desirable.

Other requirements
Ability to effectively collect and communicate information. Ability to work in a multicultural environment.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization would be an advantage.
