DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Senior Economic and Societal Impact Officer of the Cabinet Office of the Secretary-General (CSG), the incumbent will support the analysis of economic and societal benefits from national and multilateral investments in Hydrometeorological Services, climate adaptation and early-warning.
The incumbent will perform the following duties:

(a) Review reports and research papers on magnitudes of economic damage from extreme weather and disasters as well as cost benefit analysis of investments in early warning systems, observational infrastructure and information to the public;

(b) Assist with compilation of datasets, including economic financial information and statistics on the economic and societal benefits, and development of economic analysis;

(c) Assist with visual representation of findings;

(d) Assist with organization of meetings and seminars;

(e) Carry out other relevant duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Master's degree or equivalent in an environmental technical domain, preferably with specialisation in economics and/or financial statistics.

Experience
Some experience in the application of economic principles in technical or development programmes, such as climate, weather and water or related area is an advantage.

Other requirements
Ability to effectively collect and communicate information. Ability to work in a multicultural environment.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization would be an advantage.
