DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the overall supervision of the Director of the Cabinet Office of the Secretary-General and the direct supervision of the Chief of the Monitoring, Evaluation, Risk and Planning Unit, the incumbent will perform the following duties:

1) Process, analyze and visualize monitoring data, with a particular focus on priority initiatives, such as the Early Warnings for All (EW4All) Initiative, the Country Hydromet Diagnostics, etc.;

2) Develop and maintain dashboards, country profiles and reports, as needed, using innovative, user-driven, interactive data presentation formats;

3) Set up and operationalize the new WMO data collection tool with a view to launching a data collection campaign among Members in the second semester of 2023;

4) Maintain and improve the WMO Data Repository and other data-sharing tools;

5) Apply innovative methods and technologies to identify, analyze, and interpret trends and patterns in complex data sets;

6) Coordinate monitoring data management, provide expertise and contribute to fostering a data-driven culture at WMO by applying strong data governance practices;

7) Carry out other duties, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Masters degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Engineering, IT or a closely related field.

Experience
A minimum of 5 years of combined national and international progressively responsible experience in business analysis, data management and analysis. Excellent knowledge of data collection systems (e.g. ODK, NVivo, Qualtrics, etc.), data cleaning methodologies and automation. Proven experience in developing dashboards (in Power BI and/or Tableau) and maps (e.g. ArcGIS). Experience in digital transformation initiatives on data collection, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and data presentation.

Other requirements
Sense of integrity, responsibility, maturity of judgement, initiative and creativity. Excellent analytical, data management, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. Proven experience to analyze, model and interpret data in support of decision-making. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and manage multiple workloads. Ability to work in a multicultural environment and to foster diversity and team spirit.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization would be an advantage.

(Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.)

TEMPORARY APPOINTMENT OF UP TO FIVE MONTHS ON GENEVA LOCAL CONDITIONS. MONTHLY NET SALARY AND POST ADJUSTMENT CORRESPONDING TO UN P.3 LEVEL. Only applicants in whom WMO has a further interest will be contacted. Shortlisted candidates may be required to sit a written assessment and/or an interview.
