DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Head of the Climate Monitoring and Policy (CMP) division of the Services Department, the intern will:

Data Analysis, Graphic design and illustration:
- Assist with applying data science tools and software for modern data analysis and plotting and their application for climate monitoring products and State of the climate reports.
- Assist with creation of products oriented toward youth audiences, including illustration of climate indicators (such as temperature, precipitation, and ocean acidification)
- Contribute to the ongoing efforts for creating a visual strategy for climate reports

App development:
- Comparative analysis of existing climate apps
- Generation of app based on State of the Climate products, showcasing reports and interactive data on key climate indicators and extreme events
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
University degree in data science, information science, communication science or other relevant field related to the subject of matter.

Experience
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the internship
programme. However preferred competencies include:
Good background in data science
Experience with graphic design, illustration, and data visualization, including comfortable working with datasets and graphing
Previous experience creating simple, user-friendly apps
Knowledge of climate/climate change concepts


Languages
Excellent knowledge of English and/or other WMO official languages. Knowledge of French would be an advantage.
