WMO Audit and Oversight Committee

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Audit and Oversight Committee, composed of 7 members, each of whom sits in a personal capacity, is mandated by the WMO Executive Council (EC) to provide objective advice and recommendations to EC and the WMO Secretary-General on all matters relating to financial management and reporting, systems of internal control and risk management, audit and evaluation processes, monitoring of compliance with financial rules and regulations and the Framework of Ethics, taking into consideration the policies and procedures applicable to WMO and its operating environment.

The members of the AOC shall not receive any remuneration from WMO for their services.
However, WMO will, if required, meet the travel and subsistence costs involving their attendance to the meetings of the Committee.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Expertise in financial, risk, audit, oversight governance matters.

Experience
Extensive professional expertise in financial, risk, audit, oversight, ethics, investigation and governance matters, including a balanced mix of public and private sector experience at the senior level, including knowledge of the operational strategic direction of WMO.

Other requirements
The members must be independent of WMO management and may not hold any position or engage in any activity that might be liable to, or appear to, impair their impartibility in the exercise of their functions. Members of the WMO Executive Council cannot concurrently serve on the AOC.

Languages
Excellent written and oral knowledge of English.

Former staff of WMO cannot be appointed to the Committee for at least five years following their separation from the Organization. Members shall serve for a period of three years and may be re-appointed for a further period of three years. No individual may serve for more than six years in total.
