DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Communications Officer, Member Services Department the incumbent will perform the following duties:

 Identify appropriate achievements, good practices and lessons learned from selected WMO projects in East Africa related to climate services in the agriculture sector;
 Engage with project partners and stakeholders to gather information on the identified achievements, good practices and lessons learned;
 Document each of the identified stories of achievement, good practices and lessons learned in a concise manner, including with appropriate photos and graphics;
 Compile the stories into one well laid out booklet to share the achievements, good practices and lessons learned;
 Prepare a leaflet highlighting the key achievements, good practices and lessons learned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
University degree in communications, journalism, social science, or a related field. Having an advanced degree or specialised training in communications will be an advantage.

Experience
At least 7 years of experience in communication tasks related to applied climate services (particularly for the agriculture sector), early warning systems, environment, weather and climate services, or climate change.

Other requirements
 Experience writing and designing communication products adapted to various target audiences in the field of weather and climate services.
 Experience working in Africa, particularly east Africa.


Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of WMO would be an advantage.
