DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The consultant is expected to work closely with WMO and implementing partners of the CREWS Pacific SIDS 2.0 project to develop and deliver the Women in Leadership Workshop for the Pacific Region, tentatively taking place in Port Vila, Vanuatu in September 2024. The consultant will be expected to:

1. Plan, develop, facilitate, and deliver the Women in Leadership Workshop for the Pacific Region, including all its materials, aimed at approximately 40 female delegates working in hydrometeorology, disaster management, and related disciplines in the Pacific.

2. Take into consideration the following overall objectives during the planning, development, facilitation, and delivery of the workshop:

 Promote gender-sensitive leadership;
 Expand participation and diversity;
 Strengthen the leadership and collaboration skills and capacity of female professionals at the national level;
 Build women's experience in participating in an international meeting;
 Promote continuous learning and sharing; and
 Increase the number of women on delegations to WMO constituent body meetings in the short- to medium-term.


3. Make use of and update the curriculum and training materials from previous Women in Leadership training events organized by WMO in the Pacific or other regions.

4. Tailor the curriculum and training materials to the target participants from Pacific SIDS.

5. Produce a training report including a summary of the activities implemented, a list of participants, including lessons learned and recommendations for future workshops of a similar nature.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Relevant university degree in related field

Experience
 Experience in organizing women in leadership workshops, or similar, in developing countries is strongly encouraged.

 Proven capacity to tailor workshop content to specific cultural and regional contexts is required.

 Leadership, communication, coaching and mentoring skills, knowledge of cultural, racial, religious, gender, generational and sexual orientation issues from a global perspective, are required.

 Experience working in the field of social inclusion and gender equality in the Pacific, is desirable.


Languages
 Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of WMO would be an advantage.

(Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.)
