DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Head of the CREWS Secretariat, a Senior Consultant is to be engaged by CREWS for the roll-out of the Green Climate Fund-CREWS Scaling Up framework.

In particular, the senior consultant will be expected to provide strategic advice in the development of scaled up proposals by GCF's Accredited Entities or Direct Access Entities and advising the CREWS Secretariat on strategically positioning itself in the process.

Scope of Work
Task 1: Support the elaboration, advise on and review documents related to the roll-out of the GCF SAP-CREWS Scaling Up framework, including but not limited to project fiches, draft concept notes or proposals for submission to GCF;

Task 2: Advise CREWS on its strategic engagement with the GCF and if necessary with other Climate Funds;

Task 3: Advise CREWS on engagement with the GCF's NDAs, AEs and DAEs as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Advanced degree or higher in economics, engineering, environment, international development or a related field.

Experience
Highly specialized with extensive relevant experience and highest-level of expertise in climate change, climate adaptation, meteorology, hydrology, disaster risk reduction.
At least 10 years' experience in providing leadership and expert advice in programme and operations for climate financing.
Expertise in producing high quality reports and documents.


Other requirements
Solid knowledge of Green Climate Fund (GCF) and Climate Risk and Early Warning Systems (CREWS).
Strong workshop facilitation skills.
Flexibility, teamwork skills, professional and personal integrity.


Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of WMO would be an advantage.

(Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.)
