DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the overall supervision of the Governing Bodies Secretariat, the incumbent will perform the following duties:

a) Assist with the arrangements for sessions of the Governing Bodies and related subsidiary bodies of the Executive Council, and other related meetings (briefings, preparatory committees);

b) Support the substantive officers in the needed background work and research which contributes towards enhanced functioning and decision-making of the Governing Bodies;

c) In coordination with relevant experts and staff, support communication to Members in Governing Bodies through presentations, briefing notes, documents, and other materials on the key issues discussed to enhance informed decision-making;

d) Maintain updated the online database of WMO resolutions, decisions and recommendations;

e) Support the monitoring of and reporting on implementation of WMO resolutions, decisions and recommendations;

f) Carries out basic research on selected aspects of programmes, operations and other activities, etc., to include collecting, analyzing and presenting statistical data and other information gathered from diverse sources;

g) Provides substantive support for policy coordination and evaluation functions, including the review and analysis of emerging issues and trends, participation in evaluations or research activities and studies;

h) Contributes to the preparation of various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analytical notes, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications; etc.

i) Provides administrative and substantive support to the various activities of the Secretariat including the preparation of background documents and presentations, handling logistics;etc.

j) Assist in other related matters, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Master's degree or equivalent in International Relations, Business Administration, International Development or a closely related field.

Experience
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in diplomacy, national or international public administration, programme management, planning, international development, or similar.

- Experience in international or multilateral organizations would be an advantage.



Other requirements
- Sense of integrity, responsibility, maturity of judgement, initiative, and creativity.

- Excellent analytical, data management, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and manage multiple workloads.

- Experience in conceptualizing and developing data-driven reports in diverse formats and media.

- Ability to work in a multicultural environment and to foster diversity and team spirit.


Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization would be an advantage.

(Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.)
SALARY AND ALLOWANCES

Annual net base salary on initial appointment is: US$ 50377

Annual post adjustment on initial salary is: US$ 44533 (in addition to the net base salary)
