DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

a) Assist with the creation of a visual identity for WMO's State of the Climate reports, including guidelines in line with WMO standards for colours, fonts, data visualization, and web materials, such as social media posts, videos, and StoryMaps.

b) Assist with the creation of a template following the visual identity guidelines for national State of the Climate reports.

c) Assist with the design of materials for COP29, including presentations, posters, and reports.

d) Contribute to the development of infographics and multimedia content such as animations, short videos, and GIFs for use in reports and social media.

e) Review and provide feedback on design elements created by other team members or external partners to ensure consistency with the visual identity.

f) Other related tasks as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Higher education degree obtained in graphic design, communication, multimedia design, information design, digital media, environmental communication, or a related field.

Experience
- Knowledge of design thinking, concepts, and tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.).

- Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and with GIS and mapping software (e.g., ArcGIS) would be an asset.

- Experience in environmental communication, particularly in designing materials related to climate change or scientific topics would be an asset.

- Familiarity with accessibility standards in design, ensuring content is accessible to individuals with disabilities.

- Strong sense of responsibility, initiative, attention to detail, and ability to work in a team.

- Good knowledge of the latest online video-conferencing platforms, MS Office, and other audio and video software applications.


Other requirements
- Interest in climate science or environmental issues.

- Adaptability and willingness to learn new tools, platforms, and design challenges as needed.

- Some knowledge of the activities of WMO or other United Nations agencies.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization would be an advantage.

(Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.)
