DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Pre-event: Preparation (1.5 working days):
• Collaborate with GEO Secretariat to understand the objectives and themes of the side event and develop a moderation plan to include the moderator’s intro, outro and links/transitions between the different sections of the side event;
• Participate in 2 1-hour prep calls with the GEO Secretariat team;
• Participate in 1 1-hour in-person pre-event meeting at COP16 in Cali with the GEO Secretariat team.

2. During event (23 October – 0.5 working days):
• Arrive 1 hour before start time to soundcheck and meet the speakers;
• Act as a moderator during the 90-minute side event, providing the introduction, outro/closing, links between speakers, and moderator of the Q&A.

3. Additional work (ad hoc):
• Additional preparation work needed for unforeseen reasons will be paid in addition to the agreed sum pro-rata based on the agreed daily rate.
• Carry out other relevant duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Certification in communications, moderation, facilitation.

Experience
The service provider must possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in event moderation, with a proven track record of successful engagement in diverse settings, including audiences in Africa.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of WMO would be an advantage.

(Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.)
