DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the overall supervision of the Director, Science & Innovation Department at the World Meteorological Organization and direct supervision of the Scientific Officer, Science & Innovation Department as well as in close coordination across relevant departments, the WMO Research Board and Scientific Advisory Panel, the incumbent will perform the following duties:

a) Provide logistical, organizational and administrative support to the Research Board and Scientific Advisory Panel, including note taking, updating membership lists, drafting reports and presentations, organizing meetings, and other relevant tasks;

b) Support the coordination and production of the multi-agency United in Science report, including collaborating with partner agencies, report drafting and preparing communications materials;

c) Support communications activities, including keeping the community platform website up to date and drafting contributions to the WMO MeteoWorld publication;

d) Carry out other relevant duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Bachelor's degree in natural or social sciences. Master's degree in natural or social sciences is preferred. Knowledge of meteorology, climate science, hydrology, or related environmental sciences would be an advantage.

Experience
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience. Any experience related to coordination, communications or report production would be an asset.

Other requirements
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.

- Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimum supervision.

- Good organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate in a multicultural environment.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products (SharePoint, Teams, Forms, etc.) and Zoom.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of WMO would be an advantage.

(Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.)
