DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Contribute to project implementation and interinstitutional cooperation.

- Consolidate a baseline analysis of capacities of hydrometeorological, climatological, and early warning services at national and regional level;

- Support actions related to CREWS Central Africa project implementation (e.g. development of concept notes, ToRs, technical specifications, etc), guiding capacity development and related future investments;

- Assist in liaising with global and regional centres to support improving of services at countries level;

- Establish actions for collaborations with UNDRR, Word Bank and other partners, to leverage support to NMHSs and EWS;

- Represent WMO in regional and national meetings with NMHSs, project partners, bilateral agencies. etc.

Supporting project management

- Contribute to ensuring the quality of delivered reports by partners and NMHS, through revisions and ensuring regular feedback;

- Updating the project monitoring tool (Gantt chart, contacts, logical framework, etc.), and project virtual library collecting ToRs, reports, relevant references; etc.

- Conduct regular meetings with focal points involved in the provision of early warnings in Central Africa, WMO project team, implementing partners and regional centers;

- Coordinate and animate regional meeting, Steering committees, training workshops; etc.

- Support the preparation of project reports for CREWS Central Africa.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
- Master's degree in meteorology, hydrology or related fields.

- Knowledge of WMO support (WIPPS, WIGOS/WIS/WHOS, SWFP, FFGS etc.) and national meteorological or hydrological operations.

Experience
- Minimum 10 years in supporting project implementation in West and Central Africa.

- Experience on the use of advanced technologies to support production of NMH services.

Other requirements
Availability to participate to onsite and online meetings, including travel to Central Africa.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization would be an advantage.

(Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.)
Additional Information:
Proposed fee: 620-750 USD per day, depending upon experience, knowledge and skills.
