DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direct supervision of the Head of GAW programme, the incumbent will perform the following duties:

(a) Manage all activities under the responsibility of WMO for the EU FOCI Project;

(b) Manage all activities under the responsibility of WMO under the Integrated Urban Climate, Weather and Environment Systems for Climate-smart and Resilient Cities: Thailand study (IUC4CRC) project;

(c) Support meetings and tasks of the GAW programme where relevant, including GAW Ozone and UV-related activities;

(d) Support the preparation of the Ozone and UV Bulletins in 2025 and 2026;

(e) Liaise with UNEP Ozone Secretariat as needed;

(f) Carry out other relevant duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Master's degree or equivalent in environmental studies or a closely related field. A first level university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience will be accepted in lieu of a Master's degree.

Experience
A minimum of two (2) years of responsible experience in communication activities related to WMO activities and in project management in relation to the GAW activities.

Other requirements
- Knowledge of weather, water, climate-related activities of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) is highly desirable and would be an advantage.
- Strong sense of responsibility, maturity of judgement, and initiative.
- Experience in writing and revising technical documents and reports.
- Good analytical and communication skills
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment and to foster diversity and team spirit
- Experience in organizing workshops, expert meetings and training events.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.


Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization would be an advantage.

(Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.)
SALARY AND ALLOWANCES

Annual net base salary on initial appointment is: US$ 50377

Annual post adjustment on initial salary is: US$ 45289 (in addition to the net base salary)
