DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Group on Earth Observations (GEO) and its Global Ecosystem Atlas (GEA) initiative seek a Content & Multi-Platform Communications Consultant to enhance digital engagement, visibility, and outreach. This role supports GEO (50%) and GEA (50%) by developing content strategies, managing social media, producing multimedia, supporting events, overseeing budgets, and ensuring consistent messaging.

Under the supervision of the Chief Partnerships and Communications, the incumbent will perform the following duties:

1. Content Strategy & Development
- Develop and implement content strategies for GEOSEC and GEA across platforms (social media, website, email, blogs).
- Ensure alignment with communication goals of both initiatives.
- Create a dedicated communications strategy for GEA.

2. Social Media Management & Campaigns
- Develop engaging content tailored to different audiences.
- Manage interactions and grow the audience base.
- Monitor trends and adapt strategies.
- Lead/co-lead campaigns for fundraising, awareness, and engagement.
- Manage paid ads within allocated budgets.

3. Multimedia Production & Editorial Support
- Produce videos, graphics, infographics, and photography.
- Develop articles, blog posts, reports, and other content.
- Create presentations for GEOSEC and GEA.

4. Event Coordination & Support
- Assist in planning, organizing, and promoting events, webinars, and discussions.
- Develop event materials, visuals, and key messaging.
- Ensure event communications align with outreach strategies.

5. Budget & Resource Management
- Manage budgets for advertising and content amplification.
- Explore funding opportunities, particularly for GEA.
- Execute targeted paid media campaigns.

6. Content Collaboration & Partnerships
- Work with GEO leads, Atlas stakeholders, and partners to co-create content.
- Ensure content cross-promotion through partner networks.
- Manage interns, consultants, and resources.

7. Analytics & Reporting
- Monitor performance and audience engagement.
- Provide insights and recommendations for optimization.
- Deliver impact assessments of campaigns and content.

8. Brand Consistency & Messaging
- Ensure consistent messaging and branding across GEOSEC and GEA.
- Align content with organizational guidelines.

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:

1. Digital Content Strategy & Implementation Plan - Comprehensive strategy for GEOSEC and GEA, including platform-specific plans.
2. GEA Communications Strategy - Actionable plan to enhance visibility and engagement.
3. Content Portfolio - 50+ high-quality content pieces (e.g., videos, graphics, articles) distributed across platforms.
4. Social Media Reports - Data-driven reports on engagement, performance, and recommendations.
5. Campaigns & Digital Events - Lead or co-lead two major digital campaigns or events.
6. Event Support Materials - Presentations, briefings, and event resources.
7. Final Performance Report - Evaluation of content impact, key insights, and recommendations.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
A university degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.

Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in digital content creation, social media management, and communications strategy.
- Strong experience building and engaging online audiences across multiple platforms.

Other requirements
- Expertise in video production, graphic design, and multimedia storytelling.
- Excellent knowledge of digital tools, analytics, and social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.).
- Proven ability to develop and execute impactful digital campaigns.
- Strong editorial and writing skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences.
- Experience in writing articles, reports, and creating professional presentations.
- Familiarity with social media advertising, audience targeting, and campaign budgeting.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of WMO would be an advantage.
