DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision and guidance of the TCG and Services Department, the incumbent will perform the following duties:

a) Act as WMO Youth representative and support the WMO gender focal point in relation with voluntary contributions;

b) Contribute to preparation of background documents, and resources related to WMO Youth Action Plan. Upon approval of the Youth Action Plan, assist WMO in developing an initial implementation roadmap, including initial reporting to the UN Youth Office and provide guidance on integrating youth priorities into WMO’s broader strategic initiatives;

c) Map and guide ongoing and new partnerships with relevant external organizations, in cooperation with the Development Partnerships Office and lead Youth communication efforts;

d) Coordinate the reporting on WMO voluntary contributions to the Gender Action Plan;

e) Support gender analysis and screening requirements at project portfolio level, as well as other gender mainstreaming activities;

f) Map and support extrabudgetary gender related activities and understanding across the WMO portfolio.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Master's degree or equivalent in international relations, business administration, international development, gender studies or a closely related field. A first level university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience will be accepted in lieu of a Master's degree.

Experience
At least 1 year progressive responsible experience in in drafting strategic frameworks or action plans, particularly within the UN system or other international organizations.
Strong understanding of youth and gender engagement strategies and best practices.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to liaise across diverse cultures and sectors.
Familiarity with WMO's mandate and expertise in climate, weather, and water issues is an asset.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization would be an advantage.

SALARY AND ALLOWANCES

Annual net base salary on initial appointment is: US$ 43144

Annual post adjustment on initial salary is: US$ 36931 (in addition to the net base salary)
