DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ARE YOU A SEASONED OPERATIONS LEADER WITH A TALENT FOR ORCHESTRATING SEAMLESS CONFERENCES, MANAGING COMPLEX TRAVEL LOGISTICS, AND OPTIMIZING FACILITY SERVICES?

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) is seeking a dynamic Chief, Conference, Travel and Facilities to lead a high-impact team that supports the Organization's global mission through world-class service delivery.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources and Corporate Services, you'll be the strategic and operational anchor for one of WMO's most vital service sections. Your leadership will ensure that every meeting, mission, and facility reflects the professionalism and precision of the Organization's global mandate.

1) CONFERENCE SERVICES

- Lead and modernize WMO's conference services, ensuring quality, efficiency, and responsiveness to evolving client needs.
- Strategically manage the WMO Conference Centre, including facility rentals and operational policies.
- Oversee the delivery of interpretation services in WMO's official languages, supporting multilingual meetings.
- Direct the planning and execution of high-level meetings and conferences, including joint events with other international organizations.
- Serve as the key liaison with Permanent Representatives on meeting logistics and coordination.
- Negotiate host country agreements and ensure cost-effective organization of conferences abroad.
- Provide budgetary oversight and act as certifying officer for all relevant financial lines.

2) FACILITIES AND COMMON SERVICES

- Supervise the Facilities Manager to ensure optimal building operations, maintenance, and resource utilization.
- Oversee the Building Fund for Works, ensuring projects enhance usability, sustainability, and safety.
- Certify expenditures and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.

3) TRAVEL SERVICES

- Lead the Travel Officer in delivering comprehensive travel support to staff, experts, and delegates.
- Provide policy guidance and resolve complex travel cases with clarity and fairness.
- Propose innovations to streamline travel operations and improve service delivery.
- Certify travel-related budget lines and ensure compliance with WMO regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Master's degree or equivalent in management, political sciences, social sciences, external relations or related area.

Experience
A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in administration, management, logistics, planning and coordination/ execution of large-scale events in a multinational environment. Substantive and direct experience in international event management, management of international corporate travel services, and facilities management, including the management of contractual common services, are required.

A detail-oriented professional with a strong foundation in operational planning and financial oversight.
Brings desirable experience in using corporate ERP systems to streamline workflows and ensure data integrity across organizational functions.
Demonstrated capability as a certifying officer, ensuring compliance and accountability in financial transactions.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English and French (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization would be an advantage.

(Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.)
The position is funded from regular budget.

New appointments on fixed-term contract of one year or more shall be subject to an initial one-year probation period.
SALARY AND ALLOWANCES

Annual net base salary on initial appointment is: US$ 101540

Annual post adjustment on initial salary is: US$ 90066 (in addition to the net base salary)
