DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) is seeking a strategic and forward-thinking leader to serve as Director of Human Resources and Corporate Services. This role provides oversight for WMO’s enabling functions, including human resources, administrative operations, procurement, language and conference services, and organizational support. The Director plays a pivotal role in advancing institutional effectiveness, supporting organizational reforms, and promoting a high-performing, inclusive, and service-oriented workplace aligned with WMO’s strategic objectives and the broader UN reform agenda.


YOUR LEADERSHIP IMPACT

As Director, you will provide strategic leadership across WMO’s corporate services, ensuring operational excellence and alignment with institutional goals. Under the direct supervision of Assistant Secretary-General, you will:

a) ADVISE SENIOR LEADERSHIP on institutional capacity, workforce planning, and performance.

b) LEAD HR STRATEGY, talent management, and staff development to foster an inclusive and high-integrity culture.

c) OVERSEE ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES, procurement, and operational risk management to ensure efficiency and compliance.

d) ENSURE EFFECTIVE DELIVERY OF SERVICES in multilingual services and conference logistics for global events.

e) DRIVE DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION across HR and administrative workflows for improved transparency and decision-making.

f) SUPPORT ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGE INITIATIVES and policy development to enhance accountability and performance.

g) REPRESENT WMO in inter-agency coordination and promote harmonization of operational practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Master's degree or equivalent in human resources management, public or business administration, organizational development, or a related field.


Experience
- A minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressively responsible experience in human resources, corporate services, or operational management, including at least 5 years at a senior managerial level in a multicultural and international setting.

- Demonstrated experience leading institutional reform, digital transformation, and cross-cutting service integration in large organizations.

- Proven track record in managing diverse and interdisciplinary teams, including ability to oversee divisional resources and budgets.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization would be an advantage.

The position is funded from regular budget.

New appointments on fixed-term contract of one year or more shall be subject to an initial one-year probation period.
SALARY AND ALLOWANCES

Annual net base salary on initial appointment is: US$ 116095

Annual post adjustment on initial salary is: US$ 102976 (in addition to the net base salary)
