DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ABOUT THE ROLE


SUPPORTING COORDINATED CONSTITUENT BODY OPERATIONS

Provide comprehensive support the coordinated and harmonized functioning of technical commissions and regional associations within WMO's governance structure.

Under the direct supervision of the Secretary, Governing Bodies Secretariat, the Constituent Body Coordinator will work proactively with relevant staff from the Department of Earth System Data and Predictions (ESDP), Department of Science, Services and Capacity Development (SSCD), Regional Coordination Office (RCO), Regional Offices (ROs), and Division of Human Resources and Corporate Services (DHRCS).


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Constituent Body Coordinator will be responsible for the following duties:

a) Manage critical tasks for technical commission and regional association sessions, overseeing documentation planning and procedural implementation while ensuring quality standards and regulatory compliance;

b) Actively develop and review procedural frameworks for technical commissions and regional associations, identifying areas for improvement and updating rules of procedure to enhance operational effectiveness;

c) Apply specialized knowledge to advise departments on website content consistency with approved constituent body structures, identifying discrepancies and contributing to strategic updates of organizational information systems;

d) Review and coordinate departmental contributions to Congress and Executive Council agendas, applying quality assurance standards and contributing to the formulation of technical presentation strategies;

e) Manage and oversee comprehensive documentation repositories for constituent body sessions, actively developing archival systems and contributing innovative approaches to information management and retrieval;

f) Oversee integrated scheduling systems for subsidiary body sessions, identifying conflicts and networking with stakeholders to ensure coordinated calendar management across technical commissions and regional associations;

g) Participate in high-level coordination meetings and contributes specialized expertise to enhance constituent body operations and strategic planning.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Master's degree or equivalent in meteorology, atmospheric sciences, earth sciences, international relations, public administration, law or a closely related field. A first level university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience will be accepted in lieu of a Master's degree.


Experience

A minimum of five (5) years progressively responsible experience in international organization operations, conference coordination, procedural compliance, documentation management, technical coordination or related fields.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization would be an advantage.

The position is funded from regular budget.

New appointments on fixed-term contract of one year or more shall be subject to an initial one-year probation period.

SALARY AND ALLOWANCES

Annual net base salary on initial appointment is: US$ 70212

Annual post adjustment on initial salary is: US$ 62278 (in addition to the net base salary)
