DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The intern under the overall guidance of the Chief Work Programme Coordinator and direct supervision of the Work Programme Officer, the intern will be responsible:

1) Assist in the coordination of Post-2025 GEO Work Programme Phase II Development, including scheduling meetings, maintaining work files and documentation, assisting with logistics, among others.

2) Support the Work Programme Officer in preparing meetings of the Programme Board and its subgroups, including drafting documents, presentations and reports, and handling logistical arrangements.

3) Contribute to the organization of the 2026 GEO Symposium, providing logistical support, preparing communication materials, drafting minutes, and managing requests.

4) Compile and analyze information on progress, achievements, risks, and challenges at both the GWP portfolio and individual project levels.

5) Enhance the communication efforts of the GEO Work Programme by updating website content, drafting social media posts, and creating visually engaging materials.

6) Provide administration support to the GEO Community Space.

7) Undertake organizational and cross-functional support, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Bachelor's degree in Geography, Earth Sciences, Environmental Studies, Public Administration, International Development, or related fields.

Other requirements
Strong interpersonal skills. Good analytical and drafting skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office software. Proficiency in design tools and software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) to create visually appealing materials. Detail-oriented. Takes initiative. Ability to work in a multicultural and diverse team.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written).
Knowledge of other official languages of GEO would be an
advantage.
