DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Head, Space Programme Section (SPC), the incumbent will perform the following
duties in support of the WMO-CGMS Virtual Laboratory for Education and Training in Satellite Meteorology (VLab):

(1) Provide secretariat support to the WMO-CGMS VLab, including preparing reports for VLab meetings and
providing supporting materials for VLab representation at various meetings (WMO ET-SSU, CGMS, etc);

(2) Support the VLab Office (VLab Co-Chairs and WMO Secretariat) in planning, managing, and implementing
activities of the VLab Network;

(3) Work closely with VLab Centres of Excellence (training centres) and Satellite Operators, providing assistance to planning, managing, and implementing activities related to the VLab Network, as requested;

(4) Keep the VLab community updated on evolving training technologies;

(5) Maintain and further develop VLab online resources (VLab Website, VLab Training Calendar, VLab YouTube). Create new online resources, as requested;

(6) Carry out other relevant duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Master's degree or Equivalent in the field of engineering, meteorology, oceanography, earth, physical or natural sciences, or closely related fields.

Experience
10 years of experience in education and training, international collaboration, particularly focusing on capacity development in the least developed countries, understanding of the WMO framework and processes;
having experience of development, implementation and evaluation of satellite training and active participation of VLab activities for more than 5 years.

Other requirements
Proficiency in utilizing online platforms and employing modern methods in education and training, comprehensive understanding of receiving, processing, and visualizing satellite data as well as its utilization for a wide range of application areas, programming skills to be able to maintain VLab online resources (WordPress, WP plugin integration and maintenance, Python), understanding of the WMO-CGMS VLab and how it operates.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of WMO would be an advantage.

(Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.)
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Band C: 390.00 - 560.00 USD per day depending upon experience, knowledge and skills.
